    What Is True Love?

When Love Comes in Unexpected Form. From A Daily Book of Miracles, by Krista M. Moore 2019-20; Photo Credit: Love & Compassion, by Krista M. Moore, Peru, 2018.

    Daily Miracles Message

When we love, we want to love with all our hearts. With all our soul. With all our minds. But the world can do just the opposite to us: we soon discover love is not a four-letter word, it is a force that moves us upside down. It can take everything we thought was valuable and make it meaningless. It can pull the wool over our eyes and make us love what is not even there. Love can make us victims and can cause us to betray our selves.

This kind of love is the love we feel in the world. It is not the kind of love that saves us, it is the kind that empties us, shatters us, and leaves us with wounds to heal. We have all suffered love and the loss of it – our hearts like holes, empty, our minds wandering desperately to find it, our heads defending us against it.

But what is love? What is this love that sounds more like an enemy than something to lean on? How can we trust it if it leaves us, deceives us, or is not love at all?

That is the question: What happens when love comes in an unexpected form?

This world is full of deceptions and illusions. It takes a lot of skill and discernment to see through it, to learn the difference between God’s Love and what the rest of us feel most of the time.

Relationships on this earth are often misunderstood. They are roles we play, and none of us play the same way. Each one is different. Some are variable and go up and down, separate and come together again. Nothing stays the same.

But God’s Love is real. It does not change. It is simple. It does not go away. It can be counted on. Its form may vary, but its message is the same.

If you do not feel that the love you are sending or receiving brings you greater peace, insight, clarity, joy even, then you must question this love. The source of this love may be the mind and the body, not the soul, not the Spirit.

It is hard to hear this message while we are in the body. We want human love to be true. We want to love no matter what the cost. But real love shatters our illusions, it reveals them to us, it blesses us while even causing pain. It does not destroy our hope, it offers it to us, asking us to give up our suffering, our fears, our illusions.

If we choose God’s Love, human love takes a different shape. We may have to compromise, but we never lose the true Love underneath.

To give God our Love means to give God our life; it is to let Him take all our relationships and make them good, or to remove the ones that are not for our Highest Good.

To let go of love and receive God’s Love is a holy cross we have to bear if we are to know true happiness. To give up the world’s version of love is the most painful process, but once we realize that God’s Love comes first without condition, and moves through us, we can relax and know that we are safe. We do not have to choose one form or another. We can remember to love unconditionally as we have been loved.

God’s Love is more than enough. It means I can accept whatever is happening, even if I cannot have what I think I want at this moment. I will still face difficulties, challenges. I will still suffer the consequences of being human. I will sometimes lose, as physical love is always temporary.

At the same time, I know that God’s Love is Higher, it is softer and brighter. It will carry me forward. It will illuminate all suffering and save me from disaster. It will be there when I die, and when I awake in God’s presence.

Whatever form this Love takes in the world to teach me, I accept this Love with all of my heart, soul and imagination. I mourn the death of human love that does not last. I ask only for God’s Love, and to heal my fear of loving imperfectly while I am here.

When love comes in one form or another, I wait. I breathe. I pray. I ask God to help me discern and navigate. I say,

“God, make me a channel of your Love. Make me see. Let me not be helpless, but full of the Love you have for me. Let me be that Love for others, the Love that we all seek.”

    Daily Miracle Prayer

Offer us Love, Father, when we have lost our way. This world is filled with illusion and suffering. Even love can cause this, especially love or lack of it. I pray for your peace. To shield me from a love of lesser form. Show me your Love, complete and unconditional. Make me a vessel of this Love for the world. Amen.

    Daily Miracle Blessing

Be at peace and know that I Am Love.

    You Can Count On Me

From a Daily Book of Miracles, by Krista M. Moore, excerpt of a book in progress, Copyright 2019, Photo: Cross at West Hill, 2019

    Daily Miracle Message

Have you ever had a best friend you could rely on even when they weren’t physically there? Someone who never goes away or fails you, who understands everything and never gives up on you?

I have. Though I have been blessed to have a number of “best friends” in my life, there is one whom I count on before all others: Jesus Christ.

I don’t know where my affinity with Jesus came from, but from the age of about 12 or so, I have claimed him and known him. He has felt like an intimate friend, a brother.  I talk to him all the time: When I’m walking the dog; going to bed at night; washing the dishes; or writing this book. He is always there, in my heart and mind.

Maybe it’s because he made this promise long ago, that he would be with me ’til the end of time. My soul remembers, and he never forgets his Word.

I can count on him, and now, I hope, he can count on me. When I was younger and more of a seeker on my spiritual journey, our relationship was a one-way street:

“Jesus/God, what can you do for me?”

Now that I’ve grown older and hopefully a little wiser, so it’s more like: “Jesus, what can I do for You?”

But when times are tough and I am not as able to help others, I know where to turn. When life gets difficult as it must, when I need a friend who will not let me down, who will not judge, who is always available the instant I call his name, I know who I can count on.

It is as if Jesus is a very personal friend saying, “Count on me.”

Physical friends are essential, amazing (and life-saving) for a lifetime of joy and happiness. But God and Jesus are like my heart and soul, something I cannot live without. Times change, people change, but my Source, my eternal Helper does not. And when he gets me out of a jam, and turns my life right side up, I can get back on my horse and ride out into the sunset, and as I turn back, I smile at him, toss my head back and say, “You can count on me, too, brother. You’ve got a friend.”

    Daily Miracle Practice

Try having a silent conversation with Jesus. He may surprise you. He can also be quite funny! Nothing phases the One who has overcome the world. You can tell him anything. His heart is yours.

    Daily Miracle Blessing

I will always be here. I will always be with you. You can never lose me. Never doubt my Love. I will be with you ’til the end of time. When others fail you, I will help you. Count on me before all others. You’ve got a friend.

    How God Can Use You

“Use Me”. From A Daily Book In Miracles, a book in progress, by Krista M. Moore, Copyright 2019; Photo: “Man on a Rock” Copyright 2018 by Krista M. Moore

    Daily Miracle Message

One of the prayers of my life has been, “Use me”.  I recognize that I’ve been given a lot of talents, gifts and resources. So have you. What if you turned it all over to God, right now, and said, “Use me”?

It seems a little gesture. Like, what can I do? Little old me?

But it is a great request. And it leads to great things.

Your life is filled with promise. You were born that way. And though you may have forgotten, God didn’t forget about you. The best thing you can say to God is, “Use me”.

You may feel you’re not worthy to serve God. Or you’ve made too many mistakes. However, you will never know all that you have done already to serve God. You have forgotten most of those tiny gestures. But many, many lives have been saved because of you. You wouldn’t be here right now, living and breathing, reading these words, if God didn’t have a great plan for your life!

All you have to do is let your worries and fears go, all your regrets and mistakes (if you have any) – even your past glories – and turn everything, I mean everything, good and bad, proud of and not proud of, both hope and despair… and say, “Here it is God. Use what you can and discard the rest.”

    And He will!

Boy, has my life changed since I turned that phrase.  From self-serve to High Service! I still have a long way to go, but I never give up asking God to make my life count and push me to do what needs to be done.

And I have never been more content. Life is always new, always changing, always moving me forward. And it can be that way for you, too!

It doesn’t matter what is going on in my life, one way or another, God turns it all around and makes everything turn out great. And it just keeps getting better. Sure, I am still challenged, I still suffer, but overall, as I look back, I am amazed at his goodness and response to my call, and mine to His!

When you’re in doubt; when you don’t know what to do; when you think you’ve made too many mistakes; or that it’s too late, just say this tiny prayer and your whole world will change:

“God, Use me. I am willing to be used by You!”

    And He will!

    Daily Miracle Prayer

Dear God, Use me. I may have made a lot of mistakes and wasted a lot of time. I can’t take that back. But I can give you everything I have now. Take my whole life: my talents, my gifts, my mistakes. Make everything right. Make everything great. For the rest of my days… Use me. Amen.

    Daily Miracle Blessing

There is nothing, nothing you can do to stop my Love for you. You have not fallen off my page. I still have your name on my list. I have a plan that needs your gifts. Let go of all your cares and worries and let me use your gifts!

    How to Be More Present

“The Sound of the Night Bugs”, mystical poetry and psalms, by Krista Marie Moore.

    Daily Miracle Message

Do you ever marvel at the sound of the sky? At the smell of the fog that lays over the air at night? The crickets singing their night song, the whir of the fan, the whistle of friends walking by? All whirs beside us and around us and beneath us, our minds catching little fragments of thought, precious moments of time…

The sound of the night bugs as I lay in bed, fills my heart with calm. What can go wrong in a world where little creatures smaller than my hand tuck me in at night with their song? The hum of my computer, the dim of the light, the reflection in the mirror, the dog breathing a sigh. All lay quiet in the midst of great activity. “Stillness is anything but still”, I recall a friend saying.

In the calm, and in the sounds, I find my gentle mind praying. My fingers move the keyboard, and my mouth mouths the words. My heart speaks but nobody hears. I am lit up though it is dark outside.

A time of rest is a time of healing. To understand the depths, one must listen and be quiet. Do not even think you know how to say it. It is a wordless song that plays once, and only you can hear it.

There is nothing more beautiful than God’s tiniest creatures as my friends. My mother thinks I’m crazy for not killing spiders. They spin their webs, shining in the sun, or hidden in corners. The symmetry and artwork are astonishing. Not a peep is ever heard.

The cat sleeps. The birds whistle. And the deer nestles in a bur-rough in the thick of the wood. The fish swims upside down. The flick of the tail, like water, rushes in the twinkling night as I breathe.

Nothing can keep me from saying my love of this sweet song playing, always underground. It takes an artist, a spiritual realist, a hypnotist, a musician, a player, to really feel what I am saying.

Nothing, nothing can stop this beautiful sound.

    Daily Miracle Prayer

Dear God, let me notice the beauty in everything, from the biggest cloud going by to the tiniest flee. Let me see me, as I do your majesty. In all things, let me hear your song, giving me Light, peace and calm. Amen.

    Daily Miracle Blessing

Sweet, sweet child, I hear your song. I hear your soul calling to me. And I am in love with you, your beauty and your Light, your wisdom and your majesty too, as a reflection of Me and all that I create.

How to Hear God: What the Sun Said to the Moon

Mystical poetry and modern-day psalms by Krista M. Moore, Sunburst painting by Mary S. Moore

    Daily Miracle Message

Sometimes it is difficult to hear what Spirit says. Listening for something can cause nothing to become much louder! It can feel almost impossible to connect to that ineffable Presence. Travelling in many circles of play and work, we dream, we write, we become still at night. And we wake again to the same plight: What is it all for? Is anyone listening? What does my life mean?

The doorway is open if we let ourselves seek it. Jesus said, “Seek and ye shall find. Knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Mathew 7:7-8). We must enter. It is not an easy path, it is through “the narrow gate” (Mathew 7:13): to close the door to one world and open the door to another. But it must happen.

Like sleep at night, we must engage in the practice of putting to rest all other things. We must fold down the sheets and lay our heads down. We must turn out the light, so the true light of our own inner being is illuminated. As our busy mind rests, our spirit is able to connect to God, to reunite with its Creator.

We can not expect this to happen instantly.  It is a process of repetition, like the moon’s ascent each night.  It does not decide when or what it will be;  it simply returns, gloriously.  And like the symbol of the moon, it can be a very emotional process. That time of rest is also sorting of many things we have carried during our days, weeks, months, years, or even lifetimes.

But once in a blue moon, if we persist, if we continually let go and return with open hearts and minds, we are able to dream beautiful dreams, to rise past fitful sleep, to that other place we call freedom or heaven on earth. To connect with our true selves and Spirit in new and beautiful ways, with the sun shining on our face.

    Daily Miracle Prayer

Dear God, help me to open my heart and mind to You. Help me to hear Your Voice, and ascend to where you always abide. Let me move past all the cares and worries of this world. Let me rest my head and return to You so that I can know heaven on earth. Amen.

    Daily Miracle Blessing

Rise up, daughter! Rise up, son! Turn your face to me and feel my eternal Light. Take your place among the stars at night and see the Light of who you are. Return to me and bask in my golden glow, forever held and free.

Can God Help Me With My Laundry/Homework?

“Sorting the Laundry”, A Daily Book in Miracles, by Krista M. Moore. Picture from Peru.

    Daily Miracle Message

You may not think sorting your laundry is very miraculous. It may appear that clothes being sorted are the most mundane activity known to man – or mankind – or humankind. But how you sort the laundry, and why you sort the laundry is more important than you might think.

You may ask, does God care about our ordinary tasks, like sorting the laundry? You bet! Why? Because he cares about our state of mind. If we are unhappy, we are not connecting to God. And so, to connect to God in ordinary life, we must find happiness in ordinary tasks.

But we often avoid ordinary tasks as if they do not matter. And so we think God also doesn’t care about those tasks. The avoidance of pain drives – almost – all human beings. We will come up with a million things to do other than sorting the laundry. Unless we like that sort of thing. And most of us do not. As a matter of fact, when we sort the laundry, we may even be tempted to think that our lives are not important. That we are as mundane as the things we are sorting. But that is not the case.

If you look at your life, it is like one giant pile of assorted things we put on: roles we play, ideas we have, decisions we make, children and projects we create, work we do, games we play. There are a million and one things on our todo list. And sorting the laundry is like the epitome of what it takes to face up to all of that.

What if we sorted the laundry like it was our best friend? The most delicate and precious solitary act, the most reverent act of kindness toward ourselves and the ones for whom we are carefully folding and putting away?

Without the clothes on our backs, our lives would be pretty scary indeed. Think of Adam and Eve!

We can sort our laundry and name why we like each item, or why a certain item has seen better days and needs to be lovingly put away or given away.

What if we caressed our clothes like we caressed our lover, watching our hands as they fold, smelling the fresh fabric, unfurling the sheets with the last zip and flourish before folding each corner down over the other, trying to remember how our mother or grandmother learned to do such a thing? It is a marvel.

What if we let go of our desire to do anything else but be exactly where we are?

Now that would be a miracle!

    Daily Miracle Prayer

Dear God, give me the strength to be here, exactly where I am, starting this day with You at my side. Give me the clarity to accept the things I cannot change and the will to love the things I can. I will love it all anyway. Amen.

    Daily Miracle Blessing

Oh, that you would know how mighty and blessed you are. Exactly as you are. With all that you have and all that you do, you are a miraculous child of God. Bless you!

    Have No Fear

“Have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim from the housetops” (Mathew 10:28-29)

My random opening of the ESV Bible today, a new spiritual practice, revealed knowledge and wisdom that encouraged and uplifted me in my new quest not to hide the truth, but to proclaim it from the rooftops. In a secular world, especially in an especially “progressive” Canada, that is no easy feat.

I am reminded not to fear or worry what others think as I proclaim the Gospel in 21st Century North America and beyond. I figure I am not alone, though it sure feels that way sometimes.

Spreading light is easy if it’s the usual “self-help” or “new age” variety. But as soon as you use the word, “Jesus”, “Christ” or “Bible” you are in for advanced cynicism, curiosity or criticism.

I’m alright. Based on today’s passage, I’m in good company.

    Finding Sublime in Sacred Climb

On a recent trip to Peru, to complete my Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) along with Life Cosmic teacher Alexander Petrogiani and crew, I experienced the sacred in space and time. The environment of expansive will, of dependence on careful steps and mercy, revealed that life has a purpose even when we don’t know.

Climbing the mountain of Machu Picchu was less of a challenge for the body and more an invitation for the soul: the sacred envelopment of Mother Nature, married with the obvious causation of an eternal and infinite Creator, God the Father, made me less anxious than I thought I would be.

Noticing the softness of the flowers and bushes hugging the outer edges of a nearly 8000 foot drop, I felt nothing but the miraculous, the awe and wonder of the scenery, with only the sound of my rhythmic and reliable breath and the odd butterfly visiting me.

My feet were first shoed, then naked against the cooler stones that once supported the walk of ancient shamans (some buried near the top), and their disciples who still pilgrimage today. I come with a different perspective, but am not untouched by their history and what the sublime meant to them who were so tied to earth and its authority.

I climb with determination, that I will reach the top, and that I can trust in myself and God to keep me going. My ragged breath heaves in and out of my mouth like a woman in labour. It cannot stop my feet, which seem to spring up the giant steps, floating above cliff ledges that no one of faint or fearful constitution should approach.

I am proud of my friend, a nurse with a rare blood disorder, who is also terrified and out of breath, just steps behind me, with her guide tightly wrapped on her arm. The phrase came to me, a reminder not to get too cocky of my progress as I stop for her, as Jesus said,

“The first shall bee last, and the last shall be first.” (Mathew 20:16)

The view was more wonderful than can be described. We all made it. And then we had to climb back down. That was the tricky part. But, it isn’t about the climb, it’s about being there. Yeah, we know. But you really haven’t been there until you climb.

    Start the Day Positive

Thank you God, for giving me a new day!

If you can begin each day by saying, “Thank you, God”, you are not only protecting yourself against negativity, you are setting the tone for an amazing day ahead of you.

Spring into action each morning with a “Praise, God!” “Hallelujah!” or other such song in your heart. Even if you don’t feel like it, it is impossible to hold pessimism and cynicism in a heart that is glad, thankful and under the authority and direction of God.
